Bill 1070, currently sitting on Gov Abbott's desk, would eliminate TX affiliation with the national Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC). States that join ERIC agree to share their voter registration and licensing and identification data from motor vehicle departments every 60 days. Concerns over what happens to the shared information and the Constitutionality of individual citizens not consenting to sharing ther information led to the implementation of the bill.
